 Frequently Asked Questions

How do I join University Swim Club ?

1.      You can complete a registration form printed off the website or ask for a form at one of the pools.

2.      Because you are new to USC, an agreement form needs to be completed and a verification of birthday is required.  A photocopy of a birth certificate, passport and valid state identification card are acceptable.

3.      In the event you are transferring from another US team, our website has a transfer form which is also available from the pool locations.   As a reminder, if you are transferring, there is a 120 day waiting period before you can “officially” swim as a USC member for points at the meets.  However, you can still swim in your new USC attire during the waiting period.

How do I enter swim meets ?

There are two places you can go to enter swim meets:

  1. Meets page - Find the meet that you wish to enter.  Click on the date in the Entry Deadline column.  This takes you into Direct Athletics.
  2. Home page - Go to the Quick Links section on the left-hand side of the page.  Click on Meet Registration.

Once you are in Direct Athletics, follow the step-by-step instructions in How To Enter Meets On-line.

How do I get a password for Direct Athletics?

When your fees have been paid according to your fee agreement, you will receive an email with your username and your initial password.  You should change your password immediately.

If your fees have been paid and you have NOT received an email with your username and password, please contact either your child's coach or Coach Lownes.

Why wasn't my swimmer entered in all of the events that I selected ?

Sometimes Direct Athletics, our on-line meet entry system, will allow you to choose which events to enter in a meet.  If you notice in your confirmation email that your swimmer was not entered in all of your chosen events, please contact either your child's coach or Coach Lownes, ASAP.

How do I know which meets to register for ?

Some meets have minimum qualifying times.  Some meets have maximum qualifying times.  This can be found in the meet information for that meet.  It is very important to abide by these guidelines.  You will be fined if you enter a meet for which you are not qualified.

If you are unsure of which meets to enter, please contact your child's coach.

How can I tell if any other swimmers are entered in a meet?

Of course, you can always ask your friends on the team if they are going to a particular meet.  However, you can also check in TEAM MANAGER.  Click on the "Entries" button.  Then select the meet that you are interested in by clicking on the word "Entries" next to the meet name.  Team Manager displays all athletes enrolled for that meet.  At this point, you can page through the entries, or search by athlete name.

Where can I find meet results?

Meet results are posted in two places - 1) the Lake Erie Swimming website, and 2) in TEAM MANAGER

The Lake Erie Swimming website will give you results for all races for all athletes for all teams.  To use the Lake Erie site, go to their home page and click on "Schedule/Results".  Next, find the meet that you are interested in and click on the word "Results" in that row.  Then click on the gender and age group that you are interested in.  Some meets may have a link to all results, regardless of age/gender.

Team Manager will give you results for all races for USC athletes ONLY!  To use Team Manager, go to the Team Manager home page and click on the "Meet Results" button.  Find the meet you are interested in and click on the word "Results" next to it.  Team Manager displays all athletes who swam at that meet.  At this point, you can page through the results, or search by athlete name.  You can also get split times by clicking on "Splits".  Clicking on the "Relays" button displays results for all of our relay teams.

Where can I check on my child's times?

You can find your child's times in two places - 1) at USA Swimming, and 2) in TEAM MANAGER

The USA Swimming site will show you your child's individual times.  You can also see how s/he is ranked nationally.

In Team Manager you can view times for all of our athletes.  To use Team Manager, go to the Team Manager home page and click on the "Athletes" button.  Find the athlete you are interested in and click on the word "Times" next to the name.

Where can I find team records?

You can find team records in TEAM MANAGER

In Team Manager click on the "Records" button.  The team records are displayed.

Where can I purchase a team swim suit ?

Team suits can be purchased on-line at Competition Swimming, or at Pannell Swim Shop.  Suits can also be purchased at:

Step-In
5 N. Franklin St.
Chagrin Falls, OH 44022
440-247-9400

Where can I purchase team apparel ?

Team apparel, such as swim caps, hats, shirts, etc. can be purchased from the team.  Check out the photographs and order form on the apparel page.  Or, contact the board member in charge of team apparel.

If I swim for my High School or Middle School swim team, can I still practice with USC ?

YES!  The governing body of high school and middle school sports, the OHSAA, only prohibits competition in USA or YMCA meets during the high school and middle school season.  There is no regulation pertaining to practice!  In fact, most of the top high school swimmers in the southwest part of the state practice almost entirely with their USA team.
