Deck Entry -
Same-day meet
registration. Deck entries are not accepted at all
meets. This is specified in the meet information.
Deck Seeding -
Swimmers receive their
heat and lane assignments at the meet, after they have
signed-in for the day. Swimmers are listed by event in
a
Psyche Sheet.
How the meet will be
seeded is specified in the meet information.
Grand Prix -
National
and International level of competition. Grand Prix cut
times are
required.
Heat -
The
division of a swimming event. This occurs when there
are too many swimmers to compete at the same time. A
Heat
Winner
is the fastest swimmer of a single heat. An
Event
Winner
is the swimmer who had the best time out of all of the
heats.
Heat Sheet -
Used with
Pre-Seeded meets,
a heat sheet lists each pre-registered swimmer by event and
heat. It also usually specifies each swimmers assigned
lane.
Pentathalon -
Meet format in which
swimmers are encouraged to enter five events; one in each
stroke (Butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle)
and then an Individual Medley.

Pre-Seeded -
Heat and lane
assignments are made based on pre-registrations, before the
meet begins. Swimmers are listed by event and heat in
a
Heat Sheet.
How the meet will be seeded is specified in the meet
information.
Psyche Sheet -
Used with
Deck Seeded meets,
a psyche sheet lists each pre-registered swimmer by event.
Because heat and lane assignments are unknown until after a
deck seeded meet begins, they are not listed in the psyche
sheet.

short course season runs from Sept. 1 - March 31.
